Garner Valley is the flat spot in the San Jacinto high country: a mountain valley floor south of Mountain Center with room for pasture, horses and larger custom home sites, still at real elevation with real winter weather. S&K Grading grades pads and land here the way the valley actually sits, not the way a flat-lot plan assumes it should.
Compared to the steep forested lots around Idyllwild and Mountain Center, Garner Valley opens up into a genuine valley floor, ringed by peaks, with larger parcels that support pasture, equestrian use and custom homes on ground that does not require constant hillside cut-and-fill. That relative flatness is real, but the valley still sits in the 4,500 to 6,000 foot range, with the same granite-and-forest ground, fire hazard rating and winter season as the rest of the high country around it.
That combination shapes the work: pads and building sites graded and compacted for custom homes, pasture and field leveling for horse and ranch properties, and access roads built to reach parcels that are often set back from Highway 74. Defensible space and fire access still matter as much here as anywhere else in the high country.
The valley floor itself is generally flatter than the steep forested lots closer to Idyllwild, which helps, but it is still high-elevation ground with the same granite, fire hazard rating and short season. We treat it as high country work, not flatland work, even where the grade is gentler.
Yes. Field and pasture leveling, arena pads and access grading for equestrian and ranch properties are work we do regularly, and Garner Valley's larger, more open parcels are well suited to it.
Generally yes. Garner Valley shares the high country's very high fire hazard severity rating, so defensible space clearing around any structure follows the same standard, adjusted to what your specific parcel needs.
