De Luz sits in steep, folded canyon terrain west of Temecula, working avocado and citrus groves on hillsides, narrow roads that follow the contours instead of cutting through them, and creek crossings that many parcels depend on for access. It is some of the most demanding terrain in the area to grade well, because a mistake in drainage or slope stability does not stay small: it erodes.
Access and erosion control dominate the work: roads and driveways graded and ditched to survive a wet winter on real grade, crossings built to handle seasonal water instead of fighting it, and grove and hillside earthwork that keeps soil in place rather than sending it downhill. We grade with the canyon, not against it.
Access across seasonal water is common in De Luz, and we grade and shape crossings and the roads leading to them to handle that water instead of washing out under it. Every crossing gets assessed on the actual site, since creek behavior varies parcel to parcel.
By treating it as the central design question, not a detail. Drainage shaping, ditching and compacted, well-graded slopes are how we keep soil in place on canyon terrain, rather than grading a slope and hoping it holds.
